Acceptance and eligibility
These Terms apply to the CarbCheckBuddy website, app and related services, offered under the registered Australian business name CarbCheckBuddy (ABN 49 584 733 953). By using the service, you agree to these terms and the applicable Privacy Policy, subject to any rights that cannot be excluded under Australian law.
You must have the legal capacity to use the service and agree to these terms, or have any permission or assistance required under applicable law. If you need to create an account for a child or dependent, contact support before proceeding.
Purpose of CarbCheckBuddy
CarbCheckBuddy offers two pathways: General Food & Nutrition, which focuses on food scanning, meal records, shopping, fitness and wellbeing; and optional Diabetes Tracking, which adds user-entered glucose and insulin records and sensor replacement reminders. It is an informational, organisational and support tool.
CarbCheckBuddy is not a doctor, diabetes educator, emergency service or substitute for professional medical care. Estimated food and nutrition information depends on the information available and should be reviewed before use.
Your account and records
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your login credentials and reviewing the information you enter or approve. You should not use another person's account without permission.
You remain responsible for treatment decisions and for checking that saved glucose, insulin, food and medication records accurately reflect what occurred.
Manual health records
Where available, glucose, insulin and medication records are entered and maintained by users for personal reference. CarbCheckBuddy does not calculate insulin doses, provide prescriptions or recommend treatment.
Sensor Life provides a user-entered replacement reminder only. The app does not import CGM readings or control medical devices.
Regulatory and medical limitations
CarbCheckBuddy is presented as a personal food, nutrition and record-keeping tool. The current release does not provide insulin dose calculations, diagnosis, treatment recommendations or CGM integration. Any regulatory classification remains the responsibility of the operator under applicable law.
No Australian regulatory clearance, approval or listing is claimed unless and until independently confirmed.
AI, scanning and nutrition estimates
Food photos, menu scans, recipe scans and text descriptions may produce estimated foods or nutrition. Automated results can be wrong. Where an editable review step is provided, check and correct detected items, serving sizes and nutrition before saving.
You should not rely on an automated estimate as the sole basis for a medical decision.
Third-party services
Some features may depend on authorised third-party services, including Apple, Google, payment providers and cloud services. Availability can change and may be subject to separate terms.
The current app release does not provide CGM connectivity or medical device control.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse CarbCheckBuddy, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security controls, reverse engineer protected service components where prohibited by law, upload malicious content, impersonate another person, or use the service in a way that infringes another person's rights.
Availability, updates and changes
CarbCheckBuddy may change, improve, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for security, legal, technical or product reasons. Reasonable efforts should be made to protect user records and communicate material service changes.
Beta or pre-release features may be less reliable and may change before general release.
Consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or consumer guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws.
Information in the service, including food estimates, reminders and user-entered health records, is provided for general information and organisation. It should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional healthcare or emergency assistance. The allocation of responsibility remains subject to applicable non-excludable consumer rights.
Suspension, termination and account closure
You may stop using CarbCheckBuddy at any time. To permanently delete your account in the app, open Settings → Account & Privacy → Delete My Account and complete the secure confirmation steps. If you cannot access the app, use the Account Deletion page to request deletion by email. Deletion remains subject to any lawful retention obligations. CarbCheckBuddy may suspend access where reasonably necessary to address fraud, security threats, serious misuse or legal requirements.
Ending an account does not automatically cancel an Apple, Google or direct web subscription; subscriptions must be managed through the provider used for the purchase.
Governing law and updates
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, subject to applicable non-excludable rights and any mandatory laws that apply to you. Material changes will be communicated reasonably through the website, app or another appropriate channel.
