Quick answers

Common CarbCheckBuddy questions.

How do I get started with CarbCheckBuddy?

Create or sign in to your CarbCheckBuddy account, review your personal settings, then start with the features you use most — such as Food Diary, food scanning, fitness tools or the daily dashboard. In a diabetes mode, manual BGL and insulin logging is also available. Your settings and records should remain attached to your account as connected-device support is enabled.

What is Supermarket Scan for?

Supermarket Scan is a shopping and product-checking tool. Scan a packaged-food barcode to review available nutrition, processing, additives, the CarbCheckBuddy product score, comparisons and better alternatives. It does not log the product into your Food Diary. Use Food & Meals when you want to scan or add food for meal logging.

Can I edit food before it is saved?

Yes. Food scanning and AI-assisted food tools are designed to return an editable review first. Check the detected foods, quantities and nutrition before saving anything to your Diary or My Meals.

What is the difference between Food Diary and My Meals?

Food Diary is your historical record of what you logged on a particular day. My Meals is for reusable meals you want to find and use again. Removing a reusable scanned meal should not erase the original historical Diary record.

Where does a standalone BGL reading appear?

A standalone “Just checking” BGL entry is intended to appear in your Timeline and contribute to applicable daily totals, averages and reports without being attached to a meal that did not happen.

Does CarbCheckBuddy automatically create insulin or BGL entries?

No. CarbCheckBuddy should never invent glucose readings or insulin doses. Health records come from information you explicitly enter; the current release does not import sensor readings.

Does Sensor Life connect to a glucose monitor?

No. Sensor Life is a manual reminder: you enter a replacement date and CarbCheckBuddy displays a countdown. The current release does not connect to CGM services, import sensor readings, or calculate insulin doses.

What if another device does not show my latest records?

Make sure both devices are online and signed into the same CarbCheckBuddy account, allow the latest sync to complete, then refresh the relevant page. Avoid creating the same record again just because it has not appeared yet, as that may create a duplicate.

How will Monthly and Yearly subscriptions work?

Premium Monthly is A$9.99 AUD per month and Premium Yearly is A$89.99 AUD per year. Both are intended to unlock the same Premium feature set. The final purchase screen will show the amount due, billing frequency, automatic-renewal terms and cancellation method before confirmation.

What does Restore Purchases do?

Restore Purchases is intended to re-check an existing supported app-store purchase and reconnect Premium access to your signed-in CarbCheckBuddy account. It should not create a second subscription or charge you again.

How do I delete my CarbCheckBuddy account?

In the app, open Settings → Account & Privacy → Delete My Account. After reviewing the warning, enter your password, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT and confirm. This permanently closes your account; it is different from Clear Diary Data. If you cannot access the app, use our Account Deletion page to request deletion by email. Cancel any Apple, Google or Stripe subscription separately with the purchase provider.

What should I try first if a page is not working correctly?

Check your connection, refresh the page, close and reopen CarbCheckBuddy, and confirm you are signed into the expected account. If the issue continues, note which page you were on, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened before contacting support.

Where can I find fitness and everyday wellness tools?

Open Fitness & Activity from the app, or use Step Counter, Weight Tracker and Water Tracking from your home shortcuts. The GPS distance run timer helps you track activity; all features and permissions depend on your selected mode, device and plan.

How do reminders and Apple Watch notifications work?

Set up an available reminder type in the app and enable notifications in your device settings. Supported iPhone push notifications can also appear on a paired Apple Watch when notification mirroring and permissions allow. There is no separate Apple Watch app. Medication and weigh-in reminders are supported; check the current app settings for other available scheduled reminders.

Can CarbCheckBuddy replace advice from my diabetes care team?

No. CarbCheckBuddy is a support and record-keeping tool. It does not replace advice from a doctor, diabetes educator or other qualified health professional, and it should not be used as the sole basis for treatment decisions.
